Captain Hollis E. Robertson, USN
Captain Hollis Eugene Robertson, U.S. Navy, was born in Peoria, Illinois on March 4, 1933, enlisted
in the Navy in 1951 and entered the United States Naval Academy a year later. He graduated in June
1956 and was commissioned ensign. In 1964 he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical
Engineering from the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, California. He is a proven ship's engineering
subspecialist and co-author of the Naval Engineer's Guide published by the Naval Institute in 1972.
Captain Robertson has served ashore as an instructor of engineering at the Naval Academy, as
Officer in Charge, Fleet Introduction Team TWO, SPRUANCE (DD963) Class destroyers, as Senior Member
of the CINCLANTFLT Propulsion Examining Board and as Assistant Chief of Staff for Surface Warfare,
Operational Test and Evaluation Force, Norfolk, Virginia. He has served at sea in USS FRANCIS M. ROBINSON
(DE-220), USS FRANKLIN D. ROOSEVELT (CVA-42), USS CATAMOUNT (LSD-17), USS COLUMBUS (CG-12), USS
WAINWRIGHT (CG-28) and has commanded USS CHARLES S. SPERRY (DD-697), USS RICH (DD-820) and USS BIDDLE (CG-34).
