Comments: Congratulations on a nice web site!
I served aboard the USS BOSTON CAG1 from 1958 to 1962.
The USS BOSTON Shipmates is an organization made up of over
2,100 men who served aboard a BOSTON at some time between
1943 and today. There've been eight configurations of
BOSTONs -- using seven hulls -- up to and including the
present BOSTON, the SSN703. She's a LOS ANGELES-class nuclear
attack boat, and we're all very proud of her crew.
Since the CAG1 was the world's first guided missile cruiser,
we sort of feel like "big brothers" to the missile ships
that came later. If you ever want to hear sea stories about
hitting the "FIRE" button and crossing our fingers, wondering
IF and WHEN a missile would leave the rail, let me know...
Once again, well done!

Comments: HI Ken, I served on the Biddle from 1974 - 1979 as an OS2. It was the best Navy experience in my life. I later changed rate to EO1 (Seabees) until my commission into the USAF as a 2LT. this year. I currently serve as a staff physcial therapist at Keesler AFB, MS. Don't you know with 17 years enlisted service and who knows how many years of commisioned service what my retirement will be. Regardless of my current affiliation (USAF) or retirement, the Biddle was the best experience. I served aboard her when she was redesignated from DLG to CG. Would like to hear from any OS's. Thanks for a great page... By the way a old shipmate of mine (OS2 RW Gates) is currently a EOCS assigned to NMCB22 out of Dallas. Keep HARDCHARGING!!!!!!

As we were leaving the ship there were 2 crewmembers standing at the bottom of the gangplank. They snapped to attention and gave us a salute. I neve forgot that very special moment.

Comments: Was wondering if anyone had a Biddle page. Was onboard from June 86 to December 89. Ran into a lot of former shipmates in Norfolk the last couple years. BM2 Horsley is on the Arleigh Burke and retiring soon, CTT2 Lovello is now an Ensign in Hawaii I believe. HT2 Troxell is now a DCC and stationed at NAS Norfolk working as CMAA. EWC Mahoney is in Pensacola teaching a course for the EW's. EW1 Peters is here too and getting out in Jan. 98. CTM1 Norton is a retired chief and the last I heard he is living in Va. Beach selling real estate. CTT2 Riddle is still in but lost track of him a couple years ago. EW2 Turner is now a first class and was stationed in Hawaii last I heard. Great to see some familiar names. Hope the list grows. BM2 Horsley mentioned something about a reunion in the works. Anyone know anything about this??? Also "Opie" Kennell is now a SM1 but don't know where.

Comments: Hi! Thought you have a fine Navy Home Page going there! I also am a sailor..also born and raised in Mount Ayr, Ringgold Co., IA. Entered the USN in Jun 1955 and remained on active duty until I retired July 1974. Both my kids, Son, Mike, also an ATC and my Daughter, Laurie,AE1, are career USN-Types too. I really do appreciate my education that I received in Iowa and most of the folks that live there are as good as it gets in my book!
I was adopted at birth in 1937 and have since found my birth parents who live in Webster City. Found them in less than a week and a half using my old dinosaur IBM "XT" computer. Have a police officer in both my birth family and also in my adopted family. Thanks for the view of you ship and the effort that you have out into your Home Page. I served mostly in VP an VS squadrons but did some duty aboard the USS Wasp CV-18 and several other
Seaplane tenders too. Take good care of Iowa for me and mine!
Thanks for your service and smooth sailing, fair winds and following seas!

'83 was a great year for Biddle, with the Arleigh Burke Fleet Trophy and the Battle E's. I am proud to have served aboard and it is a shame that they scrapped it. A fine ship and still could be doing the job today. I went to shore duty in Maryland after I left Biddle and got out in May of 1988 as an ET1. Thanks for creating the page!
