Comments: Great web site guys. I have been looking for this one for a long time. As a former crewman of the Biddle (73-75), I have to say that I was deeply sadened by the pictures of her final days in Pa. I guess it was inevitable, but it still seems hard to believe. I just wish that I could have found more old shipmates listed here, but maybe by having my name in the list, some of them will find me. Good luck with the site, and keep her going. I was aboard when we did the SAR for the downed TWA airliner off of Greece in 1974. I would like to hear from anyone who was there during that memorable event.

was a tense, nervous ship while I was on her, and I often wonder of her fate.

Comments: I served on board the Biddle from 71 to 74. Had a great time with some great friends. Does anybody that served during that time remember what happened to Joe Beets? He was a StoreKeeper. I think he got busted in Olongapo and was assigned to the ships laundry during the 72 Nam Cruise. We never saw much of him on board - I don't think he left the laundry room too much!! I was just wondering what happened to him. Also, to some of the younger guys - did the Biddle still play "Riders on the Storm" after every UNREP? I used to love hearing that as we pulled away from the oilers. Trivia - who knows what the four flags stand for on the homepage? I do, and if you do, you must be an SM or an RM!

to Mar 71, How about that Tokin Gulf Yatch Club, or the storm comming home, the bow "submarined" quite a few times.
I would really like to be there for the gathering, but I can not. I wonder if Tony Larosa still cuts hair.

Comments: Served many mini tours with BIDDLE at PIREZ in Tonkin Gulf as the traveling aerographer's mate (weatherman)in late "60's. Sent many a balloon skyward and once had a falling transmitter nearly hit Capt. Scott smack in the head. The Captain was one of a kind and I got to know dozens during my long tours off the coast (1966-1972). I cherish the ship's yearbook the Captain gave me which shows pictures of the Biddle traveling around the world and a couple of shots of me in there as well.
The BIDDLE was the finest ship of her class!!
