Great site! I have vivid memories as one of the LAMPS pilots on the '72 cruise in the GOT. July 19th is a night that I shall not forget. Capt Carter and crew were splendid in combat! I'm trying to reach some shipmates from that era. If anyone knows how I can reach CWO Loren O'Neal, Lt Jim Melesva LCDR Ed Bednar,RADM Carter and others on that cruise, I would appreciate it. I worked in the ship's office from 1969 until discahrged in 1972. You may also remember my brother Scott, who served as PN3. Our aunt Mrs. William H. Bates christened the ship and was her sponsor.

I came upon this site while looking for articles on the crash of TWA Flight 841 of 8 September 1974. My father was the capt. of that flight. And on this 30th anniversary of the crash I just want to thank all of you who were aboard the Biddle during the SAR mission of flight 841. Having read the account of that SAR, I Know non of you had an easy mission, and even though there were no survivors, you did your duty, and attempted to recover as many bodies as was possible. As both one who lost someone in that crash, and a veteran, I salute you all, and say "Thank You".

I'm the guy that got himself discharged soon after returning from 'Naum in 1972 over a getting a stupid haircut on board ship and mouthing off the my chief very, very loudly. Biggest mistake of my life that was. There are very few things I have regreted in my life and that is by far the biggest one. Sure wish I can take it back. If anyone out there knows how to get in touch with Cap't Carter I would like to apoligize to him for disapointing him and also to thank him for helping me avoid a dishonorable discharge.

I have often wonder if there was away i could find my old shipmates. I guess I have found it. I served on the Biddle from 1981-1983. Most would know me as HT2 Moore. Worked in the repair shop.Boy those where somedays.I often look back at the book from the Med Cruise we took and think what has happen to most of the guys I sailed with. If any of you are out there get in contact with me it would be great to here from you all again. Remeber the great softball teams we had and all the fun we had playing in Italy.
